That's one way to fix it

Unplugged my blown mid door speakers because they were to the point of just being a noise maker rather than music maker. Car has a pretty rearward bias now dispite having two midbasses in my footwells (blown too? Probably.) guess this works until I can afford the $450 BavAudio upgrade kit for the whole car.

you know, i’ve always wondered...

how hard would it be to get a set of computer speakers (like a set or 2 of logitechs) and wired those in instead? they had subwoffers, and frankly, are pretty loud.

I know I got my Z532 system for 75$. maybe something to look into?

I find rear bias is good. Too much up front bugs my eyes. Sounds wierd, but it's true. Wonder if I'm constantly looking for something that's not there or something when it's biased forward.

The BavAuto kit is really good, a buddy fitted it to his silver ‘98 M3/4 and has no regrets.

Yup, pretty much the best option from what I've read online. If the door speakers weren't such weird sizes and design it'd be a lot easier.

Silver ‘98 M3/4? Gee, that sounds familiar.

I like a bit of rear bias (because location of my wubs) but right now it just feels a little too rear. Hopefully I’ll get used to it.

My only concerns with that would be their ability to take the reverberations of the door closing over and over. Plus it'd take a healthy bit of customization.

Computer/home theater speakers are usually 8 ohm vs car speakers which are usually 4 ohm. So it would work, but be very quiet. And they would max out pretty low. (I’ve tried this, sorta works, not really an upgrade. )

I can tell you that my original Miata had a set of speakers that came out of the ceiling of a frozen yogurt place. They sounded great.

Funny story my buddy had a similar issue in his blazer, we took the door cards off and found the cone had separated from the surround, he was pretty broke at the time so we decided to try to glue it back together. Crazy as it was it actually held together for a few years.

Not saying it’s a good option, but if you’re comfortable taking your door cards off, might be worth a shot or at the very least you can disconnect the blown speakers.
